Welcome to the libraries in Lyngby-Taarbæk

Lyngby-Taarbæk Municipality has four libraries – the City Library (Stadsbiblioteket) and three branch libraries (Lundtofte Library, Taarbæk Library and Virum Library).

Everyone can use the libraries and it is free of charge. Among other things we offer you books, movies, music, magazines, audio books and games. We also host all kinds of cultural events for children and adults, e.g. author evenings, lectures, concerts and children’s theatre.

How to register

In order to register using a MitID, you have to:

1. Be at least 18 years of age
2. Read and accept the general terms and conditions of the Lyngby-Taarbæk Libraries. It is also possible to register at Stadsbiblioteket. You must bring your yellow health card.

Users who are below the age of 18 years need a parent/legal guardian to register them as users. The parent will need to log in using MitID.

When you live in Lyngby-Taarbæk Municipality the library gives you access to a wealth of online databases. We have listed a selection further down this page.

If you have difficulties using the databases do not hesitate to contact the staff at Stadsbiblioteket.

Other services

At the library you can get access to computers, free wifi and you can print and scan documents. Please note that we charge 2 kr. per A4.

Library rules and guidelines

It is free to borrow but it there will be a fee if the books/materials are not returned in due time.

Fees for adults
1-7 days overdue: 20 kr.
8-30 days overdue: 120 kr.
More than 30 days overdue: 230 kr.

Fees for children
1-7 days overdue: 10 kr.
8-30 days overdue: 55 kr.
More than 30 days overdue: 120 kr.
